Our goals at Darna are to inspire, empower, and educate individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery, playful exploration, and continual growth. Our aim is to help individuals become their own "home body", teacher, and healer. We guide and support each person to tap into their unique story, experience, creativity and imagination, which in turn helps them find their inner strength and courage to change whatever hasn't been working.
Each one of us is inherently driven toward and has the capacity for growth and self-actualization and is the expert on our own life. This non-directive approach empowers the person to actively take the reins during each session while the therapist acts mainly as a guide or a source of support.
“The commitment within the person-centred approach [is] to dismantling the structural distribution of power within society.”
― David Murphy
Trauma-informed therapist considers the complex impact of trauma on an individual's well-being and how it shapes a person's ability to cope in their day-to-day life and its impact on their senses, body and nervous system. The question is always "What happened to me" rather than "What is wrong with me". The therapist creates a sense of safety and moves at a pace that feels comfortable for the person.
"We cannot recover until we become familiar with and befriend the sensations in our bodies." ― Bessel A. van der Kolk
Culturally sensitive therapists emphasize on understanding a client’s background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other important elements that make up someone’s culture and/or identity. It also allows the therapist to gain and maintain cultural competence in understanding their own culture and how it influences their therapeutic relations with clients.
Our bodies and senses are the vessels through which we experience life, and it is through them that we can find healing and growth. The effects of our experiences are not just stored in our minds but also in our bodies. By approaching therapy from a somatic perspective, we can tap into this innate intelligence and deepen our mind-body connection. Ultimately, this can lead to a more profound sense of healing and transformation.
As a professional Art and Music therapist, and a Social Worker, I bring my heart, soul and years of experience to each session. My journey in this field began with a profound passion for the healing power of creative expression, guiding me to explore the magic of creativity and discover ways to connect with our true selves beyond words.
For over a decade, I've had the privilege of walking alongside individuals who have faced some of life’s most challenging experiences. My work has taken me across the globe, helping those who have survived wars, conflict zones, and natural disasters. Each person I’ve met, from children to seniors, has taught me the profound impact that trauma can have, but also the incredible resilience of the human spirit.
My approach is eclectic and deeply personal, rooted in a profound understanding of the unique experiences of every individual I meet. Witnessing how art and music can transform pain into healing fuels my mission to create a safe, nurturing space where you can explore your feelings, reconnect with yourself, and rediscover your inner strength.
Darna is more than just a space or a practice for me; it’s a way of living that focuses on connecting and creating healing environments where everyone can find something that speaks to them. As an immigrant living away from home, I have learned the importance of discovering the home within ourselves, in others, and in the spaces we choose.
At Darna, all of your parts are welcomed, loved, and given space to be explored and understood. It's not just about creating art; it's about reconnecting with your beautiful self. It’s a place where we play and make sense of your inner world. Here, we uncover the parts of yourself that may feel lost or stuck, and we begin the journey of meeting ourselves again. A place where we can both, all of us grow together.
It would be my honor to be part of your healing journey. If you're ready to take this step, I’m here to listen, to witness, and to create with you. Together, we can explore the tools and processes that will support your movement through whatever challenges you face. You won’t be alone—I’ll be right there with you, collaborating every step of the way.
Let’s start this journey together.
